Support Diverse Creatives
Chapter 3 of "I AM YOU" deals with heartbreak and loss. The chapter exposes the necessity of support needed within underrepresented communities. Thus, to commemorate Chapter 3, the Osamasetorbest.com site will highlight local Boston creatives and how to support them.
MIKE FELIX & FRANKIE BERNARD, CO-FOUNDERS OF SOLE X SOUL
Mike & Frankie are originally from New York, but met while attending Boston College (Class of 2015). Although close friends and roommates for multiple years, it wasn’t until late 2020 when they ventured into a project called Sole X Soul (pronounced Sole by Soul). Combining their love of sneakers with their appetite for crafting compelling content, the duo have produced over 100 videos since their launch. These videos include sneaker reviews, commentary on the culture and current events. The goal of Sole X Soul is simple: create community through sneakers. In 2022 they hope to collaborate with other sneaker enthusiasts. A new discussion series that focuses on community will be built out on the platform.

JASMINE JEMEISON, FOUNDER OF FRNDS INC.
Jasmine Jemeison realized that financial literacy conversations weren't commonplace within families of color. In 2016, Jasmine witnessed the consequences of this problem when speaking with a friend about purchasing a car. Both women financed their first cars. However, Jasmine's friend was paying $75 more monthly for a car that was worth $30,000 less than Jasmine's car. Unestablished credit and a high APR put her friend at a disadvantage with this new investment. Fast forward to 2021: Jasmine founded FRNDS Inc as a 501c3 Non-Profit, with the goal of helping women develop financial mindsets and make informed decisions. The ultimate goal is that all of our sisters can avoid the challenges faced when making financial, academic and professional decisions.
