The Geese Were Always Watching by Brooke Roberts
In the year that we met,
we played Uno under the tent.
And as I played my final card,
The birds waddled around the yard.
The geese were always watching.
In the year that we kissed,
Every moment but a blur full of bliss.
And the bird, he minded his own,
As he swam in the fountain alone.
The goose was always watching.
In the year that you proposed,
my purity ring was disposed,
in exchange for a different ring.
The birds celebrated with distinct zing.
The geese were always watching.
In the year that we will wed,
we will soon share the same bed.
And I am sure even then,
The geese will be still begging for bread.
The geese will always be watching.
